BARCELONA, Spain, Dec. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Crystal Lagoons has been awarded its second Guinness World Record for the largest crystal-clear lagoon in the world, breaking its own 2007 Guinness World Record, when the iconic crystalline lagoon at San Alfonso del Mar, in Chile, (20-acre) was certified as the world's largest by The Guinness World Records.

This time, the record goes to a 30-acre crystal-clear lagoon that is the main attraction of Citystars Sharm El Sheikh, a popular tourist resort located in the middle of the desert and which will be one of Egypt's most luxurious resorts.
The Citystars Sharm El Sheikh crystalline lagoon gets its supply of salt-water from wells in the desert that currently do not have any other use. The salt water of the crystal-clear lagoon has higher levels of clarity and will be used for reverse osmosis water desalination treatment, thus lowering the desalination costs.
