BRNO, Czech Republic, Sept. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The China (Hebei)-Czech Business Promotion Seminar was held successfully in Brno, the conference and exhibition capital of the Czech Republic.
The event was sponsored by the Hebei Provincial Department of Commerce and aims to become Central and Eastern Europe's largest industrial Czech machinery exhibition platform, promoting exchanges and cooperation between departments of local governments in the Czech Republic and China.
Hebei Provincial Department of Commerce deputy director general Pei Shixin, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Eduard Muricky, counsellor of economic and commercial affairs at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Czech Republic, Cheng Yong as well as an investment expert from Czechinvest, the business and investment development agency of the Czech government, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Nearly 100 well-known companies from China and the Czech Republic held discussions on a wide range of projects.
Pei said in her speech that Hebei province can provide a favourable foundation for economic and trade cooperation with the Czech Republic. Total trade between the province and the Czech Republic stood at USD 100 million for the year 2014, while the Czech Republic had invested USD 29.39 million in Hebei Province that year. With deepening bilateral relations and cooperation between China and Czech Republic, implementation of the Chinese government's "One road, one region," the development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei strategy and cooperation with the Czech Republic will allow the province to make the most of these opportunities.
Muricky noted that the Ministry of Industry and Trade has been working to strengthen cooperation with China. Given the Czech Republic's strength in motor vehicles and parts, machine tools and related industries, there is great potential for bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the industrial sector.
Counsellor Cheng said that the Czech Republic has become one of China's most important economic and trade partners in Central and Eastern Europe, with rapidly developing bilateral economic and trade cooperation. The Hebei Provincial Department of Commerce has been taking an active role in organizing exhibitions by individual companies, and the forum will hold further meetings during exhibitions to promote better understanding by Chinese manufacturers and traders of the Eastern European market in general and the Czech market in particular. The forum also has a significantly important role in exploring various forms of mutually beneficial cooperation.
