Hamburg, October 17, 2016 A Cradle to Cradle-building celebrates innovation by using creative design and technology to increase its beneficial footprint as much as possible. The Cradle to Cradle-Weekend at the end of October offers many interesting opportunities to experience how we can realise a built environment that goes beyond sustainability to add value for all stakeholders and improves our quality of life.
During the last Footprint Days of the exhibition period, Michael Braungart, colleagues from EPEA and partners from the Cradle to Cradle-community will be pleased to see you there. A Footprint Day is a unique opportunity for visitors to become part of the exhibition. In a world where only celebrities can leave their hand and footprint, it is important to give everyone such a chance. The local soil that has been used for the installation is intended to be transformed into real personalised human footprints until the end of the exhibition period.

Meeting on Architecture - Environment
The event series "Meetings on Architecture" organized by the Biennale Architettura 2016 provides a framework for participants of the various exhibitions to explain their concepts to a broad audience. It will be a way to hear from the contributors themselves the richness and complexity of the built environment, and what it takes to get things done. EPEA's CEO Michael Braungart together with Batlle i Roig Arquitectes, Hugon Kowalski and Transsolar will focus on environmental issues and related case studies. Language: English.

Matinée - Talks on Cradle to Cradle
Change making concepts often need fuller explanation in order to be properly understood. Therefore, the Matinée brings several Cradle to Cradle-experts together to share their story at an 18-meter-long table in the Austrian Pavilion. Through the open and informal character of this event, interaction between the participants and visitors plays a central role. A perfect chance to ask your questions about Cradle to Cradle-buildings, projects, products and their qualities. Main themes of the talks are healthy buildings, buildings as material banks and upcoming challenges for the built environment. Language: English/German.
Participants: Michael Braungart (CEO of EPEA), Christoph Ingenhoven (founder of Ingenhoven Architects), Michel Giannuzzi (CEO of Tarkett), Erwin Thoma (CEO of Thoma), Sarah Wiener (chef, nutrition expert, businesswoman). Presentation: Britta Nagel.

About EPEA's exhibition at the Biennale Architettura 2016
"Celebrating our Human Footprint: A Building like a Tree - A City like a Forest" emphasizes the possibility to transform conventional architecture into buildings with a beneficial footprint. Buildings can be designed with the positive characteristics of trees: buildings that actively clean water, remove fine dust from the air and are made of materials that are intended for reuse from the beginning. The exhibition demonstrates why it is important to celebrate our ecological footprint, and not to minimize it. EPEA is one of eight German exhibitors, and one of only a few non-architect institutions in general. The 15th International Architecture Exhibition takes place from May 28 to November 27.
