BroadForward's BFX Diameter Signaling Controller goes live at Manx Telecom to provide 4G roaming
Amersfoort, The Netherlands, July 19, 2016 - Manx Telecom, the largest telecommunications and IT solutions provider on the Isle of Man, today announced that the BroadForward Next Generation Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC) has gone in full operation to enable the launch of 4G data roaming services and support Manx Telecom's service innovation plans. The availability of 4G data roaming services coincided with the start of the TT, a prestigious motorcycle sport event on the Isle of Man attracting thousands of fans annually.
Manx Telecom operates both fixed and mobile multimedia networks for subscribers and corporate clients, both on the Isle of Man and across the world. Manx Telecom is a well know innovator, being the first operator to deploy a 3G network in Europe, the first company in the world to launch 3.5G services, and Europe's first operator to implement a fully digital telephone network and having a complete virtualized core network. And now the BroadForward Next Generation DSC enables Diameter connectivity and routing between the Manx Telecom network and its 4G roaming partners.
Three-time GSMA Best Mobile Technology nominee BroadForward provides Manx Telecom with a complete solution for Diameter Routing Agent (DRA) and Diameter Edge Agent (DEA), as well as advanced interworking across protocols such as Diameter, SS7 (MAP/CAP/INAP), RADIUS, HTTP, ENUM and LDAP. BFX is deployed at leading network operators and IPX providers around the world, enabling service scenarios such as routing, mediation, 3G-4G interworking, Wi-Fi / Fixed integration, legacy billing integration, subscriber lookups (SLF), Number Portability, M2M signaling and virtualization of EPC and IMS.
Kevin Paige, CTO for Manx Telecom, commented: "BroadForward have proven to be another excellent software centric partner that has enabled Manx Telecom to build on our SDN and NFV strategy. The DSC gives us the ability to really own our signaling assets and orchestrate innovative services quickly and cost-effectively through our software as-a-service-goal. Following the launch of 4G data roaming we can now focus on further integration and optimization of our Diameter signaling network. BroadForward has provided us with a truly unique and flexible multi-protocol routing and interworking function that is designed to work in fast evolving multi-vendor and virtualized environments."
